DC convergence problem

Hi all,

I am having some dc convergence problems. I would like to ask what's the best way to overcome those convergences problems?

I have got some ideas. I could set a node voltage (the one that is giving problems) to a certain value to help the simulation to convergence. But I don't know how to do this. Besides, how can I know which nodes are causing this?

I read on the spectre.out report that we can set the diagnose to yes as well as inventory to detailed. However I couldn't find those 2 options in the ADEL simulator GUI.

Another option could be use the transient simulation results as a starting point for the DC simulation. Again, don't know how to do this.

Can someone help me out please?

Regards.

Perhaps a good start would be to read this book: The Designer's Guide to SPICE and Spectre

    Hi.

It depends on the kind of circuit that you are runninh. My suggestions are:

    - In general set the detailed report for convergence debug on Analog options.
    - For circuits where the start up is critical or could have multiple DC solutions : Try all homotopy options or just ramp up VDD.
    - Set some initial conditions or nodesets on known nodes.
    - Try a transient analysis in order to see problematic voltages/currents
