Quarter-Circle in Layout without converting to polygon

How can I create a quarter circle in layout that doesn't get converted to polygon?

I tried creating a full circle and chopping. But, as soon as I chop it gets converted to a 20-sided polygon.

You can't. There's no quarter circle object in the database (there's a native ellipse, which is used for circles, but not for a portion of a circle). You can control the number of sides for conics via the Options->Editor form.

You can also directly create quarter octagons by hitting F3 after doing Create->Shape->Circle - but you'll see there that the number of sides has to be specified if it's a quarter or half circle.

    Regards,

    Andrew
