Cadence virtuoso version 6.2.145

I am using Cadence Virtuoso on RHEL 5.9 and I am trying to run a simple program but the image enclosed says some error. I have been trying to diagnose it for a while now but haven't got any success yet. I wish somebody helped me with this on what to do cope up with this problem. I am a new user of Cadence.

OK, first of all I modified your post to include the image directly in the post rather than a link to a google drive file (makes it easier to see).

Secondly, there is no Virtuoso version 6.2.145 - you're referring to the MMSIM/spectre version number from the log file you've shown.

However, the problem is almost certainly that you've not included the model files; assuming that you're running via the Analog Design Environment (ADE), this would be via Setup->Model Libraries. Because of this, your transistor models aren't defined and so spectre complains because it can't find a definition. The message about macro names (the parser error) is a little odd - not seen that before - so maybe you need to check what else you are including. Many PDKs add the models automatically into ADE, but maybe the design kit  you're using doesn't?

That said, you're using a 10 year old version of the simulator (not quite sure why), so maybe the parser error was a long-forgotten bug. That's not going to be the reason for the missing models though - that's just a setup issue in your environment.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Hey Andrew! I have used the model libraries under setup> Model Libraries followed by /home1/mscxxy16/AMIS05_CDS/amsimodel/res-Deafault.scs and under section its typ and like this I have included the model files for cap, bip, dio, var and mos but the result has never changed away from the previous screenshot. And to answer your last question regarding older version being used by me, this is because it's a university and I have no idea why they are doing so .

You must not be including the file with the definition of enm  (otherwise you wouldn't have the error). I can't answer the details on that PDK (as I don't have access to it), but I would suggest using "grep" in the directory containing the models to see which files are defining it to ensure you're including the right files.

The best solution (if that doesn't help, and if the documentation for the PDK doesn't help) is to contact Europractice (I'm assuming you're under the Europractice scheme given the process you're using) - their support link is here: http://www.europractice.stfc.ac.uk/contact_us.html . They should be familiar with the setup for this technology (even though you're using an ancient version).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
