VAR syntax in Digital Vector File

Hi,

I am trying to simulate a circuit with different input patterns in ADE-XL. I have created several input patterns in separate VEC files. However, I am unable to use the VAR syntax which will allow me to choose which VEC file to simulate using a variable. Appreciate it if could share a way to enable the VAR syntax or suggest a workaround.

Thank you!

This seems to be a bug (or at least an oversight). What's supposed to happen is that when you use VAR, it automatically adds a variable into the design variables - and that's not happening. If you then try to netlist (in ADE L, at least) it gives a SKILL error. If I add the variable myself, it then seems to work but I have to force a netlist recreate each time.

So you should contact customer support and report this - I couldn't find any reports of the issue (I may have used the wrong search terms though).

As a workaround, I tried creating an include file myvecinclude.scs which had:

    vec_include MYVECFILE

I had a variable MYVECFILE with the value "forum.vec" (with the quotation marks). However, it seems the spectre parser is expecting only a literal string for the vec_include and not a parameter - so spectre fails with this too. This is probably a second issue that needs correcting.

Please provide both these bits of info to customer support - then the application engineer can file CCRs (change requests) for both (ask them to contact me too). Whilst I could file the CCRs myself, it's better to have it associated with a customer who wants it rather than it appearing just as a good idea from me...

    Regards,

    Andrew.
