Color of "tool tip" text

Hi,

I seem to have inadvertently changed the color of the text of the "tool tip" (the bubble that shows up when you hover your mouse over a button in the GUI, for example when you hover your mouse over the green "Play" button in ADE-XL). The color of the text is black by default and it's changed to white (really difficult to read with the pink background of the bubble!). Where can I set this text color back to the default black? I'm using Virtuoso 6.1.7.

I'm assuming it's set somewhere in the cdsinit or cdsenv file but I can't figure out how to change this Disappointed

Thanks,

Shaan

    Shaan,

Not sure there's a setting for this in Virtuoso - it's discussed in this article though which might give some suggestions. If that doesn't help, please contact customer support.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Andrew,

Terribly sorry to respond so late...but I can't access the link you shared. Is there any way for me to access the article without needing some kind of login info ?

No; you need a support account. However, since the article is really about setting up KDE, I'll post it here (without the picture):

    Problem

I just switched to KDE from Gnome. I am using NX client. What I am observing is that the tooltips in Verilog A text editor are white text in light pink boxes. It is impossible to read the text. Also, tooltips in Virtuoso Layout Editor (Palette assistant for example) also are similar with light pink background and white text, and unreadable.

How can I make the tooltips in Virtuoso readable?

    Solution

It was found that this issue was specific to the following Configuration:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo)
    KDE version: 4.14.8
    KDE Desktop: Plasma

o  In KDE Control Center, under Appearances and Themes -- Color settings: There are a couple of resources called:
Tooltip Text - This is set to white by default
Tooltip Background - This is set to black by default

     - With the defaults, the tooltips in various non-Cadence applications and Linux desktop are fine/readable. However, tooltips in virtuoso are unreadable due to white text on light pink background.

A workaround for this issue is to do the following:
    _______________________________

Switch thedefaults for the above two resources and save:
Tooltip Text - set it to black
Tooltip Background - set it to white

With this change, tooltips in virtuoso are now readable with black text on light pink background.
    _______________________________

As I said before, if this doesn't help, you should contact customer support. If you're a university or similar institution, then you should either contact your university scheme (such as Europractice in Europe) or the professor or contact point within your organisation who is entitled to make support requests. If you're from a commercial customer (who is on maintenance), you can register for an account on support.cadence.com yourself (then you'd be able to follow the link too).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
