Monte Carlo dist=unif option

Michael H
Michael H over 7 years ago

Hello,

I am trying to make use of the Monte Carlo option: dist=unif

with IC6.1.7 and SPECTRE 17, but I can not find any place to choose this option.

Is there a way to activate it?

Kind Regards,

Michael

    Hi Michael,

This is set in the vary statement in a statistics block when you describe how a particular parameter varies. See "spectre -h montecarlo" for more details.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

based on the Spectre Circuit Simulator and Accelerated Parallel Simulator User Guide in the section:

    Changing Parameter Distributions at Runtime,

I had the impression, that now it is possible to change the distribution from ADE directly. But thank you for your response clarifying it.

    Regards,

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Sorry, I didn't anticipate that this is what you were asking for (overriding the distributions globally is a fairly unusual thing to do). There's no UI support for this (because it's risky), but you can achieve it by putting this:

    envSetVal("adexl.monte" "additionalNetlistOptions" 'string "dist=unif")

in your .cdsinit (don't forget to remove it when you're done). Note that just entering this function in the CIW won't be enough because the background process used to perform the netlist won't see the change.

This will add the parameter onto the monte carlo instance line (also covered in "spectre -h montecarlo").

    Regards,

    Andrew.
