Custom digital placer can't use tap-cell

I have declared the tap-cell as STDSUBCONT in CPH, however custom digital placer aborts any attempt to use it with

*WARNING* (VCP-20003): No tap cell masters could be found.

Define tap cells and restart the Custom Digital Placer.

How else am I supposed to declare that cell ?

In the Component tab in the Placement Planning form, did you specify the component type in the "Insert Tap Cells" section to be gf55npksssstSUB?

See page 27 (and page 17) of IC617: Basic VCP/VSR Standard Cell Flow RAK

(Note, I didn't check the RAK to make sure it actually works - hopefully it does!)

    Andrew.

yes and that is when the error occurs. I can place without ...SUB-cell without problem (apart that the sub-cell is missing in the resulting circuits obviously)

I can get that problem two ways:

    1. Create a new component type with a component class of STDSUBCONT which doesn't have any cells in it, and use that. Doesn't look as if that's the case for you.
    2. Have a valid cell in my component type, but have the list of views not matching the actual views in the library. Do you have an abstract or layout view of the cell STN_TAP_DS in your library?

If neither of these explain it, I suggest you contact customer support - may need an application engineer to take a look to understand what's wrong.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    I have layout for STN_TAP_DS.

I have solved the problem: you need to specify min. & max. spacing for tap cells. If one of them is blank, said error message appears ...

    Thanks for looking into it,

     Jan

    Hi Jan,

That's odd, because I had them both blank. If I fill just one of them in, it still works OK for me.

Anyway, glad you got it working.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
