is there any way that we can run lvs with schematic in OA virtuoso version 6.1.6-64b and layout in icfb 5.1.0

HI All,

I have a data base in icfb 5.1.0 and we want to convert it to virtuoso version 6.1.6-64b.

First we convert the schematics and symbols from icfb 5.1.0 to virtuoso 6.1.6-64b then we want to run lvs using that conversion schematics in virtuoso 6.1.6-64b against icfb 5.1.0 layout to make sure that we didn't make mistake when we converted schematics and symbols. Is that any way to do that ?

thanks

Please let me know how I can streamIn my layout to gds file ?

    thanks

    Nhumai

PS. I know lvs is mentor graphic tool but streamIn to gds is cadence so ......

Well, you could do a couple of things:

    1. File->Export->CDL in both versions to produce a CDL netlist and then use your LVS tool to do a schematic-versus-schematic check
    2. File->Export->Stream to export a layout database from IC5141 and then use that to run LVS with. Not sure why you would need to do a "stream in" (it's surely stream out you want?). Not sure what you don't know about this?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

When I do " File->Export->CDL" it is OK for schematic in OA virtuoso but in ICFB I got the error like

    "

ERROR: Netlister: unable to descend into any of the views defined in the view list: "auCdl schematic" for instance I1 in cell invlx4_bal.

Either add one of these views to: Library: tech Cell: nfet or modify the view list to contain an existing view.

    "

Do you know how can I fix it ?

About streamIn and streamOut I always confuse about that. I remember in my previous job we called streamOut when we generate layout from gds. Now I need to generate gds from layout so I thought I should call it streamIn.

Yes, if you can please let me know how to fix that error

    thanks

    Hi Nhumai,

How do you perform LVS in IC5141 if you aren't able to generate a CDL netlist? What tool are you using?

That's very odd, as it's also back to front.

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Of course the alternative way of getting cdl netlist  is running lvs but we looking for the faster way. Running lvs is cost some time and the license here is limited. That is the reason I looking into  generate cdl netlist alone.

thanks for your input I think the only way we can do now is run lvs in  IC5141 cdl neltists

    Hi Nhumai,

You didn't entirely answer my question (you didn't say which LVS tool you're using). However, if you're using Mentor Calibre or Cadence PVS, then it will be using the CDL netlister to generate the netlist for LVS purposes. It's the same CDL netlister whether it's run from the LVS tool or run from the CIW - so I'm guessing there must be some setup difference between the two flows?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your help. we finally done our job this way. We run lvs in icfb 5.1 database , generated cdl netlist from OA 6.1.6 database then we run lvs using caliber with the mode netlist-to-netlist comparison.

    thanks again
