Cannot run Assura RCX

Hello,

I am trying to do a post-layout simulation of a ring oscillator to determine why there is a discrepancy between the simulated oscillation frequency and the fabricated chip. Unfortunately when trying to use Assura RCX to do the parasitic extraction, I am unable to run RCX because the run button is grayed out. I have a successful LVS with everything matching and no errors. The help menu regarding RCX simply says that after a successful run of LVS, I can reopen the run and "Once the run is opened, the Run RCX... item is enabled in the Assura menu." However, if I open the run, there is still no menu option called Run RCX, nor anything that mentions RCX. I also found that if I attempt to run Assura from avview, the avview Assura Form also has "RCX -> Run..." grayed out as well as "Setup -> RCX setup..." grayed out. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my RCX?

I have attached pictures demonstrating what I see.

Thanks,

G

    Hi G

Would you please provide the versions of your Virtuoso and Assura?

    terminal> virtuoso -W
    terminal> assura -W

I think you might not have included EXT package in your cshrc file. Do you see a "Quantus" or "QRC" menu in your layout editor? You should get an output by executing the following 2 cmds:

    terminal> env | grep QRC_HOME
    terminal> which qrc

Assura RCX is an old parasitic extractor and has already been replaced by QRC many years ago. QRC has been rebranded as Quantus in recent years.

    Quek,

Thanks, I knew I was forgetting something, the versions are Virtuoso IC6.1.7-64b.500.5, and Assura 4.1_USR5_HF14.

The second set of commands yields: "/usr/bin/which: no qrc in (lots of directories)" which I assume means I don't have Quantus?

What should I be looking for within the cshrc file?

    Thanks,

    G

    Hi G

    >>> "/usr/bin/which: no qrc in (lots of directories)" which I assume means I don't have Quantus?
    Yes, that is correct.

Defining QRC_HOME shell variable and having the path to "qrc" executable in .cshrc file should be sufficient.
