The way to add variable in test of assembler

Hi All,

I find one difference between assembler and adexl is: when you want to add variable in test of assembler, the pop-up window is simple, including only "variable name" and "variable value". But in adexl, the pop-up window has more options, like you could add, delete, change, copy from and copy to ....

Actually ADE explorer still keep such feature.

So my question is, how to change setting to let assembler also has such feature, and no need to switch to ADE explorer view ?

Huh? The context (right mouse button) menus are almost identical for me when over a design (test) variable (other than parametric sets are now available in Assembler for test variables).

Which subversion (Help->About will tell you) are you using? Perhaps you can show a screenshot of what you mean?

    Regards,

    Andrew

OK, now it's clear, but all those features are also available on the right mouse button menu over either the work "Design Variables" or the name of a specific variable (e.g. the Find menu is there over a particular variable). So the same functionality is available a slightly different way.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. I agree, RMB of "Design Variables" in assembler could do the job.

However the function when you click "Click to add variable" is still different from the way in ADEXL.

if you click here, the pop-up window is only editable for "variable name" and "variable value".

But it is not a big deal, just curious why cadence simplify this feature between assembler and adexl.

There was a change in the underlying architecture of how variables are stored (to accommodate local sweeps) and so the way that variables are added in Assembler looks the same whether  you are doing it for global or test variables. Whereas in Explorer, we were trying to make things more ADE-L like - it's a balance...
