ADE XL showing deleted design variables

Hello,

I just updated to Cadence Virtuoso IC6.1.8-CAT 37 and when I delete both design variables and global variables from both the schematic and test bench setup in the data view assistance in ADE XL, the deleted variables show up when I open the same schematic from which the design variables were deleted.

How can I fix this?

    I don't understand what you're saying here. Where exactly are you deleting these variables (the data view assistant is clear, but what do you mean by deleting from the schematic). Also what do you mean by the deleted variables "show up" when you open the same schematic. Where do they show up?

    Out of interest, where does the "CAT 37" bit show up in the version you're using?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,

    Thank for your prompt response. When I create variables in instances component description(CDF) for example, like transistor length or width to use them as global variables in data view assistance. And delete the variables to use real values instead; I see the variables when I go to the data view assistance under global variables and design variables. Why do they show up after deletion? The CAT 37 bit shows up in CIW help to see what version of Cadence virtuoso  I am using.

    Thank you so much.

    Perhaps you did "Copy from CellView" at some point to bring them across? (and maybe historically you'd done Copy to CellView too?). When you do Copy to CellView for the variables, it actually copies the variables and values from the ADE representation to the cell (not cellView). If you go to the library manager and over the name of the cell (for your test bench schematic) and do right mouse->properties, do you see a property called designVarList? Are the variables you are seeing listed there? If so, you can always delete the designVarList property from the cell properties, and that should stop them re-appearing when you do a copy from cellView or add a new test.

    I'm still guessing a bit based on your description, but maybe this is it.

    I'm a bit surprised about "CAT37" showing in the version info - I don't see that. I wonder if you have some pre-release or engineering hotfix build. CAT37 is an internal release stream for some of the component software kits that are used within Virtuoso, but I wouldn't expect it to be exposed in the final Virtuoso build. Can you let me know what you get if you do:

    getVersion()

    and

    getVersion(t)

    in the CIW?

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Hello Andrew,

    Thank you so much.

    Here is what I see in the version now.

    getVersion()
    "@(#)$CDS: virtuoso version 6.1.8-64b 01/22/2019 19:33 (cpgbld03) $"
    >
    getVersion(t)
    "sub-version IC6.1.8-64b.500.1 "

    OK, that looks like the standard IC618 ISR1 build - no idea why you see "CAT37" somewhere.

    Anyway, hopefully my explanation solved your actual problem here. It wasn't clear from your last response whether it did or not.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,

    Your answer also solved my problem, avoiding to show the deleted variables. But I am just wondering why and how the variable list will be save in the properties of testbench?

    Thank you!

    The variables are saved from ADE into the cell (not cellView) by using the "Copy to cellView" menu choice (it's a bit of a misnomer, since they are saved as properties on the cell rather than cellView).

    Andrew.

    Had the same issue and yes, deleting the variables from the  'right mouse->properties -> designVarList'  have solved this issue.
