Abstract physical information file (.LEF) of standard cell

Recently, I mainly research the achievement of digital standard cell library. For the given library cell layout, I'm planning to extrate the LEF file for floorplan and placement. But I don't know how to abstract the physical informaltion file. I learn there are two ways.

(1) At the CIW of Virtuoso, "File > Export > LEF", is this true way to get LEF for floorplan and placement?

(2) Use softeware " Abstrate Editor", but this operation is complex, could anyone help me?

I don't know which way is true? If the second way is true , I hope I can get some guide about how to operate.

The LEF export won't cause an abstract to be generated. It's fine for exporting an abstract representation to LEF (Layout Exchange Format) and potentially for a simple layout to LEF - but you generally want to abstract away the complexity to help the P&R tool work efficiently.

So you really need to understand the abstract generator. There is a Rapid Adoption Kit available: Abstract Generator

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Hi, thank you very much. I remember I get some useful suggestions about the Liberate from you too. It's so kind of you. This time, I want to extrate the LEF of layout for P&R. I have gotten the another softwar "Abstract Generator", it doesn't combine with Virtuoso. The setting for abstract is complex, I don't get some reference userguide.

In the process of abstract for PIN view, some problems occurs. As shown in  the picture, I don't know how to fill the content. This just a INV example.

Did you work through the Rapid Adoption Kit that I mentioned above? That's the best way to familiarise yourself with this tool.

    Andrew.

Yes, I read the Rapid Adoption Kit in the afternoon, and operate as is showed in the lab.  For PIN extration step, it shows "Since we have used the logical step previously, there is nothing we need to add to this form." This means it doesn't fill the content in "Map","Text","Boundry". But I operate with the same operation, I can't get the corrent results.
