Are you asking how to add some additional layers into the technology file? Not quite sure what you're asking.

The best way to do this is to create a new technology library which references rather than attaches to the existing technology library. Then dump the tech file from that (which won't be any more than the reference statement) and add a techLayers and techDisplays section (you can see the format from a dump of your main technology library). Pick a layer number for the layer that hasn't been used in the main tech lib (and far enough away that it's unlikely to clash if they make future updates to the technology library).

Then load this updated tech file into the new incremental technology library (via Tools->Technology File Manager).

You can then attach your designs to your incremental technology database and then the new layer-purpose will be available. The good news is that this means you're not actually modifying the original tech file, so this should still work if there are later updates to the central PDK.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
