How to protect the PDK files?

Hello guys,

I would like to ask a question about the protection of PDK files:  display.drf, 018cmos.rul, 018cmos.tf, and so on. I have tried the ncproctect which works well with veriloga file, but not with these mentioned files. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

UU

There's little point in encrypting the display.drf file because it doesn't contain any sensitive data, and anyway you could just dump it out again from the display resource editor. It does seem to be possible to encrypt it using the SKILL encrypt function, but it's pointless as I said.

The .tf file doesn't actually need to be shipped anyway because it would normally be compiled into your technology library. There's no support for encrypting it, and anyway you could simply dump the tech file from the tech.db anyway - so again, no point in encrypting it.

The DRC rules depends on which Physical Verification tool you're using.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks very much, Andrew. We use Calibre for DRC and LVS, PEX. So what do you think will be useful for encryption? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, Mentor's Calibre supports encryption of the rule deck (the Cadence PVS tool certainly does). However, it's a Mentor tool (not a Cadence tool) so this is not really the best place to ask that... (I'm certainly not the best equipped to answer, because I don't have access to Calibre or the Calibre documentation).

    Andrew.
