hi,AE

Can I do a simulation with the cdl netlist?  I don't want to spice in the cdl to schematic.

Thanks!

best regards,

nnlt.

In theory, yes. CDL is effectively a superset of SPICE - most of the additions are implemented using SPICE comments. However, there may be some differences:

    1. CDL nowadays in Physical Verification tools allows connections by name rather than just by order - this isn't (as far as I know - I've not checked recently) supported in Spectre
    2. The instances may have a subtype specified rather than the model name - so it may need adapting before you can simulate it
    3. Some components (such as three-terminal resistors) may connect the extra terminal by a parameter $SUB - and that won't be honoured.
    4. Usually the CDL doesn't contain parasitic info such as AD AS PD PS etc - so it may not model everything it should.

So it boils down to how close the CDL is to SPICE.

    Andrew.
