Verilog coding in Cadence Virtuoso

NorNand

Hello

I am using Cadence vertuoso IC6.1.5-64b

It is the first time for me to write verilog in Cadence,

I have created new cell view in one of my libraries. I selected the Verilog with HDL reading  option as you can see from the pictures I attached.

The problem is that I am unable to type in this editor ,

Thanks

Is there any setting that I must follow before I start with the Verilog coding in cadence ?

    The editor is probably vi (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vi), which is not very intuitive to use. I don't really know how to change the editor in this rather old Virtuoso version, but setting the EDITOR environment variable in your shell before starting Virtuoso might help.

    Frank's right. If the EDITOR environment variable is set before starting Virtuoso, then that is honoured. Once virtuoso has started, you can also set the editor (lowercase) SKILL variable in the CIW or in the .cdsinit file:

    editor="nedit"

    or

    editor="gedit"

    or whatever is your favourite editor. Alternatively, use a more recent IC version which has a built-in language editor which has syntax highlighting and is pretty intuitive for those not familiar with it.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
