I have a problem during import SPICE in Cadence IC 6.1.7

Hello,

I tried to import an HSPICE netlist into Cadence IC but I got an error (SPICEIN-24).

The netlist I tried to import contained multiple instances of a custom cell that is stored in the same libarary that I want to import the netlist into. For example, the netlist is something like:

****

xi net0 net1 vdd! 0 custom_cell

.end

The custom_cell is in the output library.

the error I get is:

Master cell CDF data not found for 'outputlibrary.custom_cell'

I put all the related libraries in the reference libraries in the GUI. Also, I unchecked 'Trigger CDF parameters callback'

I checked all similar posts, but none of them talked about depending on custom cells

What am I missing here?

First of all, your "??" post implies that this was urgent. Urgent questions should go to customer support, rather than posting in a community forum where people answer in their spare time (including those of us from Cadence). For example, I didn't answer last week because I was on vacation, and there's no guarantee that I or anyone else will answer anyway.

The issue is that it doesn't know the expected terminal order of custom_cell and it needs that to know which connects in the instance line map to which pin. There are two ways of doing this:

    1. Use the termOrder information in the CDF for custom_cell. It would look in the Base CDF, in the Simulation Information section, for whatever simulator you've picked on the form - see this section of the form:
    2. If there is no CDF (or no spectre simulation information) you can either add that, or use a device map file. Simply turn on the option on the first tab (see the screenshot above) and then on the Device Map tab do File->New and then add the custom_cell as shown here (specify the term order as makes sense). Remember to "Commit" to add and File->Save to save the device map.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I apologize for posting this question here and not in the support forums as you suggested. The reason I did that is this is my first post on Cadence Community. Anyway, thank you for answering this, I will try either methods and let you know if I have any more questions.

    Thanks again Slight smile

    Regards,

    Mustafa.
