Difference in "Voltus_Power_Integrity_Fi_L" && "Virtuoso_Power_System_XL"

Hi,

When i am trying to use "Voltus-Fi" , it says failed to check out "Virtuoso_Power_System_XL" license.

I have "Voltus_Power_Integrity_Fi_L" license with me. So, want to understand why it requires "Virtuoso_Power_System_XL" license.

I am following below procedure to use "Votus-Fi".

1. Open ADE assembler

2. Run Simulation

3. Go to results -> Select one of the output(Rightclick) -> EM/IR data -> Layout Analysis

Can anyone please help to understand this.

Thanks in advance,

Amar

    Hi Amar,

That flow is the Voltus-Fi XL flow, so that's why it requires the XL license. You should look at the Voltus-Fi-L EMIR Analysis Workshop - Extracted View Flow Rapid Adoption Kit which explains the flow for the extracted-view flow (Voltus-Fi L). Voltus-Fi XL uses the DSPF-based flow.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you very much. It clears every confusion i had.

I was using DSPF RAK. I will try the Extracted view RAK from now.

Just a quick question. Will i be able to use Pin2PinR(point to point resistance calculation) feature using "Voltus-Fi L" or it comes with "Voltus-Fi XL" only ?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amar

    Hi Amar,

The point to point resistance calculation is a Voltus-Fi XL feature. That said, Quantus QRC also has a point to point resistance feature since EXT18.2 so you might be able to use that instead?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the info. I also tried Voltus-Fi L, but the P2PR page was disabled for me. I am familiar with Quantus QRC, but haven't come across point to point resistance feature in it ?

Can you please tell, where to find the option and how to use it ?

    Thanks & Regards.

The P2PR won't be enabled for Voltus-Fi L because it's a Voltus-Fi XL feature (as I said). So it's hardly surprising that it doesn't show up.

For the Quantus capability, open the extracted view and then use Quantus->Quantus P2P R Analysis. If that's not there, then maybe you're using too old a version of Quantus.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thank you for your reply.

I opened a "av_extracted" view and I could find the option for "Quantus P2P R Analysis" in "Quantus" drop down menu. However that option is disabled for me, so i am not able to use it.

Can you please tell me if it requires any separate license to make the option enable or i am missing something ?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amar

    Hi Amar,

This requires the Quantus XL license (product QRCX300 or QTS300) and also the Quantus Advanced Analysis GXL Option license (product QRCX310 or QTS310). That's mentioned in the Quantus documentation too (run <EXTinstDir>/bin/cdnshelp and search for "point to point").

Sorry for not mentioning that earlier (I forgot).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Is there any way to calculate the P2P resistance for multiple point. Quantus P2PR is doing great for a single point. However if i have 100 nets and i want to calculate resistance between them  , its difficult to do it for every single net. I was trying to develop a script which will open the P2PR GUI ,auto click in the layout view  and call the callback of "Calculate" button. But unfortunately this is not working.

Can you please suggest if there is other way around ?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amar

    Hi Amar,

I don't think this is possible. You should contact customer support.

    Andrew.
