Usage of int and max functions while passing variables from parent schematic to lower levels

Hi,

I've created a schematic and passing variables from higher level to lower level. I want to execute few commands before assigning values to parameters of devices.

Let's say, I've a variable named X passing from top level to lower level. I want to assign int(pPar("X")/0.96)*2 to width of a device.

But LVS netlisting is not accepting this int function and also I want to use max function for other parameter.

Could someone help me on how to execute these functions for CDF variables.

Thanks,

Prasad

    Hi Prasad,

int() is not an AEL (Analog Expression Language) function. You do have floor() and ceil() to round down and up respectively, so floor() is probably the closest to your needs. There's no max() function - can you give an example of what you're expecting to use max() for and maybe I can come up with a different formulation which does the same thing?

By "LVS netlisting" what do you mean? Which netlister?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. I'm using Calibre for LVS. It's not even accepting the "floor" function. I'm getting an error in LVS, saying "Unknown function "floor" called in file....", and the comparison didn't go through.

Could you please let me know if there is any other way.

Regarding the max function --- I'm actually doing 2 separate calculations and wanted to assign the biggest number to the width of a device. Please let me know if there is any function that I can use.

    Thanks,

    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,

This seems to be a limitation with Calibre. Looking at the documentation for PVS (A Cadence Physical Verification tool), this does support floor, ceil (and min and max) in expressions in a CDL netlist. So you would need to take this up with Mentor.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
