Exporting schematics to html

Hi,

I exported a schematic with multiple hierarchy levels to html from schematic editor xl, and the resulting file is perfectly visible in firefox under linux.

The same file is not rendered under windows (I tried firefox, edge, IE11); the browser hangs and at most I see a large collection of text.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

    Hi Alberto,

Without spending any time checking this, I would expect this is the same problem as covered in my recent article (which was about ADE data sheets): Datasheets in ADE XL, Explorer, and Assembler only show limited text or are displayed as a blank page

This gives workarounds for Firefox, Chrome and Safari - I've not checked with Edge (I don't have a Windows machine), but hopefully it will help explain what's going on and how to resolve it? It's an issue related to security with file: based URLs, if it is the same issue that I have seen recently with ADE data sheets.

Please post back here if that article helps, and I'll then update the article to cover HTML schematics too.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Thank you Andrew,

the workaround solves this problem as well.

I read that there is a change request, so hopefully there will be a long term solution.

    BR,

    Alberto

    Hi Alberto,

    Glad it worked.

The change request was specifically for the ADE data sheets; I'd not considered the HTML schematic dump too. The proposal is to (maybe) start a local temporary web server and then serve the files from there rather than relying on the file: protocol.

I'll file another change request for schematic export to HTML too.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

By the way, do you know if it is possible to increase the image resolution?

At 1024x1024 is sometimes difficult to read large schematics.

Unfortunately not at the moment. Enhancement CCR 942521 is asking for this (there are quite a few duplicate requests too), but it's not currently planned despite the number of duplicate requests. You may want to contact customer support to help prioritise this further.

    Andrew.
