Improve Yield is not running,

Hello,

I am using Cadence Virtuoso version IC6.1.6

I am trying to run the "Improve Yield" from Virtuoso ADGXL after I successfully finished with the corners and montecarlo simulations. after completing the setup of the Improve Yield and hit the run, the software wait for a seconds before it terminates it with the attached reports,

Log_file.pdf

by the way, I run the global and the local optimization smoothly with no error

thank you in advance

Regards

Very hard to figure out without seeing your setup and stopping criteria. I would suggest first trying a more recent version (you're using a long unsupported version) and if it's still problematic contact customer support.

    Andrew.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your help. Actually our department started with the installation of the last  updated version of Cadence Virtuoso on a different server, this might take little more time before it be ready, meanwhile, I have to continue working with this version of Cadence.

I am attaching you my setup if this might help for the moment

As kindly informed before, it is two test of a simple transmession gate, one for DC and one for transient, I have tested it with worst corners, Montecarlo and it is fine running the simulation, also I could use the global and local optimization with no any issue, only the problem is the Improve Yield

    thank you in advance

I'll have a play with this tomorrow when I have a bit of time (actually, it might be Tuesday, as tomorrow already has a pretty full schedule). It would be useful to see the specification limits you have set - since that's a fairly important part of optimise yield (otherwise it can't determine the yield...)

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Hello Andrew,

The specification limits are fine since it was approved to be a valid range in MC and Worst corner  simulations, I would say that 92 % of samples were passed in MC, this is the reason why I am planning to use Improve Yield to adjust the circuit better

I tried using a current version (IC6.1.8 ISR9 - I'm afraid I don't have time to build an example in ADE XL and try in such an old version), and with similar settings to you (albeit with a different design - I used the Advanced Statistical Analysis for Variation Aware Design Rapid Adoption Kit which is using Explorer and Assembler. That has a section which covers optimisation (the RAK doesn't show Improve Yield), but I just loaded the "myOptimizerRanges" setup state as the parameterisation, and I set the starting state in the Improve Yield form to be "schematicValues" (we now use setup states rather than reference points). I picked global optimisation, and conditional evaluation (I tried a more appropriate local optimisation too and full evaluation) but all worked OK. It didn't really improve the yield, but it ran simulations nevertheless and was clearly working.

So I've no idea why it's not working for you, sorry.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

thank you Andrew for your reply

I will try with it next time when our new Cadence version is installed,

thank you also for the external material you provided, it is useful to me

    Regards
