Normally you'd look at your $CDS_LIC_FILE env var to see what host the license server is running on - it's often in the form 5280@hostname - or failing that, $LM_LICENSE_FILE (generally we advise against using the generic FlexLM env var, as it's better to use the Cadence-specific env var). Then on that host, check for running "lmgrd" processes and find out which license file they are reading - and at the top of that license file you can see a "DAEMON" line which will give the hostid of the machine (running lmhostid on the same machine should also give the hostid too).

    Andrew.

Wow! This information is so well-hidden? It took me a while to file a CCR because I didn't know how to find out my Host ID.
The information isn't listed in the usual Cadence Help menus. Luckily, it is listed here.

Surely, it ought to be displayed alongside license usage information (CIW -> Options -> License).

All one might need would be a tab for Host ID. Is there any good reason why that isn't done?

    Thanks,
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek,

The issue is that currently there's nothing to return the license server hostid from the license server/ports. This may be a FlexLM limitation (it's not our system, as with many others in the EDA industry, we use FlexLM from Flexera for licensing).

I'll check with R&D (actually, since I've ended up with the case you filed about AEL constants, I'll create a case for you on this).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
