Check output signals during simulation time

I'm trying to run a circuit in ADE L with transient analysis. Assume that my simulation time is 3m seconds. Sometimes I can check the output signals by Direct Plot --> Transient Signals after sometime like 1m seconds.
However, sometimes this Direct Plot --> Transient Signals is grey so I can't check it until the simulation finishes.

Is there any setting related to this? It would be nice to be able to check signal waveforms real time so during simulation so you can know if something goes wrong quickly.

We recently discussed this on the Forum. You might want to check the following discussion.

There is also a recent application note that discusses the environmental variables that are referred to in the prior discussion.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you. One problem I can see is that even though Direct Plot --> Transient Signals is grey but Direct Plot --> Main Form is OK and is able to plot signals.
However, for me I prefer Direct Plot --> Transient Signals as it's quicker and more convenient.
Is there any setting to make  Direct Plot --> Transient Signals possible?
I see you said above about flush time but I think that is related to when data is moved to the output.
In my case, data is already out there but you can't plot with Direct Plot --> Transient Signals (Direct Plot --> Main Form  is OK).

I thought I read from your initial question in your posting:

This appears to relate to a flush time issue in my experience.  If your simulation is complete and the Direct Plot->Transient Signals is grey, I can think of many issues that might lead to this. However, I don't know enough about your simulation or the signals you are attempting to plot to provide specific guidance. I should also note that the ADE-L environment is no longer actively supported. Explorer is the product that essentially is the replacement for ADE-L. Have you verified you are experiecing the same issue using Explorer?

What is Explorer? Do you mean Result Browser? I can plot signals from Result Browser during simulation. Also Direct Plot->Transient Signals is not grey if the simulation is complete. It's only grey during the simulation time. Strange enough, sometimes it's not grey sometimes it is grey.

Explorer is ADE Explorer, which is the newer generation of tools. You should be using this instead of ADE L, as ADE L is in "sunset" mode.

Looking at it, the menu will be greyed out unless the tran result are accessible - it's a pretty primitive check. The chances are that this is related to the results being flushed - too early in the simulation, they may not have been flushed yet. It certainly should require you to wait until the end of the simulations for this to be enabled (and it sounds as if that's not always the case).

    Andrew.
