Gray/Grey schematic for easier viewing of highlighted nets

Back in the days of Cadence 5 I could tap alt-G on the keyboard and my schematic would toggle into gray mode to more easily see and follow highlighted nets through the schematic hierarchy. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get access to that feature in IC 6 (6.1.8). Maybe it was a script the CAD guys had written in the company I worked for at the time. I did search the documentation before posting this but came up blank.

    That was never something that we provided - I guess you could write something to adjust the colours.

    However, have you taken a look at using Dimming for this? Options->Display in the schematic editor - then when you probe a net, the probe stays at full visibility, but the rest of the schematic is dimmed (and of course you can control the dimming intensity). You could define a bind key:

    hiGetCurrentWindow()->dimmingOn=!hiGetCurrentWindow()->dimmingOn

    to toggle it on or off.

    Andrew.

    Thanks Andrew  - I had noticed that option and gave it a try before posting, however I wasn't pleased with the results. Perhaps it's because I'm on a white background, but at lower intensities it didn't make much of a difference and by the time the schematic was monochromatic enough I was left with way too overpowering black graphics against my white background. Is there a way to adjust the endgame color to be gray instead of pitch black?

    Forgot to add - is there also a way (similar to the layout side of things) to make the highlighting bolder, and ideally also be in control of the color instead of accepting the next color in the list (y0-y9?)?

    Having tried it with a white background, dimming really doesn't work very well with a white background - it should be lightening the "background" shapes more as they are dimmed, not darkening. You should contact customer support.

    You can probe a specific colour (well, layer) from the navigator using Right Mouse->Probe over the net in the navigator.
