In schematic, would it be possible to copy a component or block inside a symbol when you descend into a block and copy it out?Like first you use "shift + E" to descend inside a block and then use "c" to copy it and then ascend with "ctrl + E", paste it on a schematic outside?
(Virtuoso version IC6.1.8-64b.500.8 )
No, because the copy in the schematic editor doesn't use the copy and paste paradigm (the copy handles both the copy and the paste in one command). There are two solutions to this:
Thanks. The first method works but whenever I do that the "Run Simulation" button in the annotation toolbar disappears. Do you know how to keep the "Run Simulation" always there? Also in the annotation toolbar is there a method to add output signals to save or plot instead of using ADE?I tried "setting outputs" from annotation toolbar but it's just for expression from calculator or something not for adding save or plot signal from schematic.
I'm guessing you're using ADE L, although for me when I descend in a new tab, I still get all the toolbars (I've no idea why that wouldn't work; perhaps you're using an old version, although I don't think this has changed recently). I don't think it's the Annotation Toolbar you're talking about, but instead the ADE L Setup and Run toolbar. For ADE L, I don't believe there's any toolbars from the schematic to add an output signal to be saved/plotted. There is the ADE Session->Options which does allow you to pick "Design Menus" which would then add a Setup->Select on Design menu on the schematic, but this is only done for the top level and not if you descend into another tab. Maybe it depends on how you opened the schematic - my quick test I opened the schematic from ADE and so it was linked.
ADE L however is in sunset mode, and so you should be moving to use ADE Explorer/Assembler, which do have Toolbars/Assistants to allow you to add an output from the schematic.
