ERROR EMX in virtuoso

tawsaras
tawsaras over 4 years ago

I am trying to simulate an inductor in EMX.

I am getting following error:-

*Error* hiGetTextWidth: argument #1 should be a string (type template = "t") - text

Please help me with this.

    Which version of EMX are you using? Also would be useful to know which IC subversion you're using too (Help->About)?

    This might be an issue in your EMX config file - but let's start at least with the versions used...

    I'm assuming you're not really using IC6.1.1 - that's ancient (probably 12-13 years old). Can you check? Integrand 10.02 is pretty new.

    Can you also try doing:

    _stacktrace=50

    and reproducing the error - this might give a bit more insight. This would probably be best handled via customer support so that we can see what's going on...

    Andrew.

    I tried _stacktrace=50 and get the following message

    OK, that's also still pretty old and it appears that the EMX code doesn't quite handle that version (I'll mention this to R&D). However, I think you can fix it fairly easily. In the INTEGRAND20 installation you'll have this file:

    virtuoso_ui/emxinterface/emxskill/emxform.ils

    Edit this file, and find the call to hiGetTextWidth (within the function EMX_log_window_geometry). Change the first argument from 'text to "text" and that should fix it. However, it will hit another problem in the same function - so you'll need to change the hiQueryFont line too. The two (three) lines after changing are:

    (desired_width (min (min (max (hiGetTextWidth "text" "This is a line of text that should fit completely within the width of the window") 250) 500)
        max_screen_x/2))
    (desired_height (min 40*(hiQueryFont "text")->fontHeight max_screen_y/2))

    I would strongly recommend moving to IC6.1.7 or IC6.1.8.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
