Spectre hangs before popup the output log window for a long time when running with 900MB netlist.

I have successfully generated the netlist. However, if click run button in the ADE Explorer, the spectre take  a long time to popup the output log window.

But if i run the simulation by the command line, the spectre will start immediately.

Is this normal?

I am using ic618 and spectre191

    This could be several things:

    1. There's a check at the beginning to see if constraints are being used in the hierarchy (for certain matching constraints) - that can take some time if it's a big hierarchy. Using envSetVal("adexl.gui" "disableConstraintsRead" 'boolean t) before opening ADE might help with that
    2. It might be in the incremental netlister traversing the design to see if anything is out of date
    3. It might be actually reenlisting everything? Do you have nlRenetlistAll=t set in the .simrc or .cdsinit files?
    4. If you have distributed simulation set up, it could be starting the job that takes time?

In general, this is really hard to debug in a public forum - I suggest you contact customer support so that we can look at it properly.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Dear alteredC,

In your description of your problem, it was not clear to me which method you are using to submit the job in Explorer. Are you using LSCS (Large

Scale Cloud Simulation) or ICRP to submit your job in Explorer? You might consider trying LSCS. Some information on it may be found at URL:

    Thanks for your reply.

By using the method in https://support.cadence.com/apex/ArticleAttachmentPortal?id=a1Od0000000tjxFEAQ and setting  "includeStatementForNetlistInSimInputFile" 'boolean t seems solved this issue.
