Extremely slow layout viewing performance while moving objects

Hi,

I am using layout XL for drawing the layout of an RF chip. As the layout gets bigger the performance of the layout viewer becomes extremely slow especially if I want to move/copy APMOM capacitors around the chip.

Our server is powerful enough for these tasks but I need to wait several seconds for each selection, copying, moving, etc.

I tried turning off other layers, or zooming into the area of interest such that I don't see the narrow fingers but it is still the same.

Any advice?

The best way to investigate this is to contact customer support. In general graphical performance issues are rare even with larger designs - but there are a lot of places for potential failure here. You should provide information to support that you didn't include here, such as the version of the tools you're using, how you are connecting to the server (is it via a remote display tool such as Exceed Turbo X, Exceed on Demand, VNC, No Machine NX etc), is this over a LAN or WAN, what display options do you have on Options->Display and so on.

Debugging such things by a protracted question-and-answer session in an open forum is not the best way to figure out what's going on, so I'd strongly advise the customer support route.

    Andrew.

    Hi,

You are right. I asked it here as I thought there might be a quick fix for this issue somewhere in the options. Thanks anyway!
