Weird behavior on "save" statements.

I have the following analyses defined.

tran tran stop=10n infonames=[dcnode] infotimes=[0.1n 9.9n 30.9n] infotime_pair=no save=selected
dcnode info what=oppoint where=rawfile save=selected

My save statements are commented.

//save vddd
//save *:d,*:g,*:s,*:b devtype=pch

The only other save statement in the netlist is

saveOptions options save=selected

I assume nothing should be saved in the info analyses because "selected" save statements asks to save nothing.

But it looks like I have the operating points saved on all the devices.

Any pointers would be very welcome.

    save=selected is the default behaviour in spectre, and selected works by saving just the things with explicit save statements, or if there are no save statements, it saves everything (all voltages, not all currents). The reason being that if you were just using spectre with no save statements in, and the default (selected) mode, the chances are you want to save something because otherwise the simulation is a bit of a waste of time. Since it doesn't know what to save, it saves everything. So you can think of save=selected as being the same as save=allpub, unless there are explicit save statements - and in that case it saves just the things. you asked to save.

    Hi Andrew,

    What is strange is that none of the voltages are saved. But all the operating information of the devices(Eg. i,pwr for voltage sources etc) are being saved. This behavior is different from what you have described.

    And if I uncomment the first save statement "save vddd" then this behavior doesn't change.

    So you mean there's nothing in the tran database? That seems rather odd (and not what I see when I use your statements in a simple circuit). I would expect all the operating point data to be saved though (currents, voltages, per - just depends on the operating point outputs that would normally get saved for each device).

    In other words, what do you see in the results browser?

    I see the voltages in the "tran" database but I dont see them in the "tranOpTimed" database. That I dont see the voltages in the "tranOpTimed" database is bothering me.

    You never get voltages in the tranOpTimed database (or any other info what=oppoint database). It contains operating point data from devices, not node voltages.

    Makes sense. I guess that node voltage can be observed from the transient itself.
