Edge Triggered Current Source

Is there a current source available that is edge triggered? The closest thing I've found is isource but the prbs option doesn't give the control I'm looking for. I'm currently using a verilogams model that generates an edge triggered current pulse with a fixed width/amplitude and I'd also like to create a schematic view that accomplishes the same function.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "edge triggered" in this case. You do have vccs (voltage controlled current source) but that would be controlled by the amplitude of the controlling signal. You could potentially use a relay (switch in analogLib) to maybe switch at a particular level - and then use that to control the current source.

To be honest, this is exactly what Verilog-A is for - it means you can create a component that does exactly what you want rather than doing it with a macromodel.

Hi Andrew, thank you for the reply. Sorry for the late response, I was sidetracked with some other tasks for a few days. I was trying to also create a schematic model because I'm getting a slight mismatch between transient results when simulating with spectre and ams. In general I'm not trying to use this edge triggered device I just thought it might be useful to compare results between the two simulators.

    Hi Kevin,

If your model had been VerilogA (rather than VerilogAMS) you could simulate it in Spectre and AMS Designer... maybe that's what you want?

Ah yes that's probably the best solution. Thank you.
