What's the meaning of "9"?

Hi professionals,

This is from spectre.out log.

What's the meaning of "9" in below? It seems there is not the node9(or port 9) in the schematic...

Matrix is singular (detected at `I1.I2.I3.I4.I5:9' and `I1.I2.I3.I6.I7.AD3<4>').

Best regards,

Ichiro

Is there a terminal 9 on instance I5 within I1.I2.I3.I4?

    1. Have you looked in the netlist directory for that name?

    2. Is this netlist derived from schematic or extracted views?

If extracted views, it may be a layout related net that will not appear in your schematic. If extracted views, have you double-checked your schematic for potential wiring errors and a resulting schematic netlist in a simulation using only schematic views of elements to determine if the singularity error still exists?

In any case, it appears likely there is a test bench or schematic error leading to a singular matrix.

    Dear Shawn,

There are so many "9" as text in netlist so I tried to find "9" pin name by schematic menu-->edit-->find tool. But he said "No objects match the search criteria.".

And this netlist derived from schematic view.

It's not a node, it's a terminal. Because it has a colon before, it's a terminal, and as it's a number, it's telling you that it's the 9th terminal (in order) of instance I5 within I4, within I3 etc. It will be referring to the current flow through this terminal being a problem.

So you're not looking for a 9 in the netlist. Look at the instance before the colon part and then count the 9th connection to that instance to tell you which terminal it is flowing through (you should check the subckt definition for that instance to determine the terminal name).
