Hi I am new to custom IC design and cadence tools. I have made some basic circuit in Virtuoso schematic and test bench for it.
We don't have licence for ADE Explorer and assembler. I wonder if there is a way around this? Is ADE licence mandatory for IC design process? Can netlist be generated directly from schematic without using ADE?
Well, the purpose of ADE is to provide an interface to a simulator such as spectre. If you only have schematic licenses and no simulator, there's little point having ADE. If you have spectre licenses as well but no ADE, then it sounds as if something went wrong with defining the product configuration that makes sense for you. If you're at an academic institution, then you should have access to the license.
Best to contact your account team at Cadence and check the products you actually have access to.
Of course you can do circuit design without ADE, but that is the netlisting, simulation control and results processing environment - being confident that your design is right without simulation is likely to be difficult.
We have schematic licences and also spectre licence but not the ADE licence. We have found that there is option to netlist from schematic editor by clicking: Launch->Plugins->Simulation->Spectre. Than new dropdown menu appears(spectre) and from there netlist can be generated to simulate with spectre.
