License issue while plotting outputs

When I plot outputs by the ADE L, it pop-up a prompt every time. It's titled "Next License" and says "License Analog_Design_Environment_L not available. Would you like to run with Virtuoso_Visual_Analysis_XL license?". What should I do to make it select the correct license automatically?

I tried to add < wavescan.application VIVALicenseCheckoutOrder string "ADE,VIVA" > in the .cdsenv file. But it didn't work.

You didn't mention which IC version you're using. If it's IC6.1.7 then that would be the correct cdsenv var (is this in your .cdsenv file in your home directory?). If however, it's IC6.1.8/ICADVM18.1/ICADVM20.1 then it would be:

    license VIVALicenseCheckoutOrder string "ADE,VIVA"

It's IC6.17 for me. I add both <wavescan.application VIVALicenseCheckoutOrder string "VIVA,ADE"> and <license VIVALicenseCheckoutOrder string "VIVA,ADE"> to .cdsenv file in my home directory. But it does not work.

You must be using a very early version of IC6.1.7 and have licenses only containing the newer ADE Explorer/Assembler licenses. There was a bug in early IC6.1.7 (fixed in IC6.1.7-64b.500.4; I just re-checked and confirmed the behaviour) that if you don't have any ADE L or ViVA XL licenses, then this happens - mainly because it was incorrectly checking out the older licenses rather than using the Explorer/Assembler licenses instead.

There were a number of licensing bugs related to "backwards rights" of the new licenses in the older tools in the early IC6.1.7 versions; these were ironed out in the early versions (in the early versions people typically had a mix of old and new products). So you should move to a later IC6.1.7 version or better still, IC6.1.8. Even better you should really use ADE Explorer instead (since that's what you have the licenses for, I believe). ADE L and XL are no longer sold (since the end of 2020) and all active development has been on the new tools (Explorer, Assembler) really since IC6.1.7 was launched over 6 years ago.

While except for updating the software version, which is not up to me, I still found another method to avoid this annoying problem. I want to share here so other people who meet the same issue may refer to it.

I opened one ADE and used it to plot a waveform (Virtuoso Visual Analysis window), which I don't really use in my work, and it will use the correct license after manual selection. Then I put the ADE and the Virtuoso Visual Analysis window into another workspace to leave it alone. After that, I can do my work normally, and no more prompts will show up.
