How to run simulations in Explorer/Assembler starting from a netlist?

IceTea

The tool versions are below:

Virtuoso IC 6.1.8-64b.500.15
Spectre 19.1.0.541.isr14

Hello,

I need to netlist a circuit, edit the netlist and perform simulations in Explorer/Assembler using the modified netlist as an input. Any suggestions? Thank you,

IceTea

The reference netlist capability will provide this feature. Its use can be activated using the "Gear" icon shown in Figure 1.

Than you. It seems to be available only in Assembler. Does the setting carry when switching to Explorer as well?

No, the reference netlist mode is only available in Assembler.

OK, so just to make sure I explored this completely: is there an option in explorer to use an edited netlist?

I think Mr. Beckett's response was pretty clear. If there were an alternative, he would have suggested it as he is extremely knowledgeable. Why do you have an aversion to use Assembler? It uses the exact same maestro setup as does Explorer. It seems you are perhaps making this more difficult for you to accomplish by insisting you use Explorer.

Outside of Explorer, you could make edits to the netlist and then execute the runSimulation executable in the netlist directory created by Explorer. You could then view the simulation results with ViVA by opening the results of this simulation.

    Shawn,

Apologies, all I wanted was to make sure my understanding is correct. I didn't challenge Mr. Beckett's statements in any way. Actually I want to thank both of you for taking the time and answering all my (stupid) questions. I have NO aversion whatsoever on Assembler, I really like it and using it ALL the time. It is an incredible tool! I'll use Assembler. I also learned from this exchange that I could go the runSimulation route if I really need it. I think I used to know this once, but I just forgot. Thank you guys!!!

Perfect! Thank you for letting us know! I just wanted to make sure that there was not something preventing you from using it hidden in your question.

And yes, I also use this option quite often if one of a set of simulations fails as I usually access Assembler/Explorer results with an ocean script and it does not rely on an updated psf database in Assembler/Explorer.

    Good luck IceTea!!
