Cadence GPDKs Installation Guide

Hi,

I am new in Cadence, I would like to get used to design some layouts and do homework for my PhD courses and for practising until I acquire real PDK files from IC Foundries. I downloaded the generic PDK files.  I want to install and use the 180 nm version, but I really have no knowledge. Could you please advise an installation guide describing the installation process clearly? I  appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot. Have a good work.

Best Regards...

There's an installation guide in the gpdk045_v_6_0 tarball. I appreciate it's a bit of a chicken and egg problem as you need to know how to unpack it to read the instructions on how to unpack it, but I guess the assumption is that most people should know how to deal with a gzipped tar file. Essentially find a directory to unpack the kit and do:

    tar xvfz gpd045_v_6_0.tar.gz

(I forget the exact file name used). Within the resulting directory there's a docs directory - and within gpdk045_v_6_0/docs you'll find a reference manual for the PDK which explains how to unpack it, and how to use from a design project. The reference manual is a PDF, so using something like evince in Linux can open it to read.

Hopefully that gives you enough of a pointer without me needing to repeat what's in the reference guide here.

I just noticed you were asking about the 180nm version,  but having just checked, the structure and location of the reference manual is the same there. i.e. it's in gpdk180_v3.3/docs - and it also has installation guides within that.

    Regards,

    Andrew
