Gravity snapping through hierarchy

I notice that gravity seems to snap at the current or below current hierarchy level, but not above the current level. Is there an obscure setting somewhere to allow snapping to objects above the current hierarchy level as well in an edit in place context?

    Assuming you're using a version which is at least ICADV12.3.500.9/IC6.1.7.500.9 then you can set:

    envSetVal("layout" "gravityEditCellViewOnly" 'boolean nil)

    That does what you want.
