Layer control by custom property

Ali ElBoghdady

Hi all,

Is there a way to add a property / parameter to a custom cell i made that can add or remove a certain layer from a specific instance of this cell, same as the properties of the Pmos / Nmos devices you have some properties controlling gate, source / drain connections or some layers to exist or not. (virtuoso layout tool)

Thanks in advance

The PCell IDE will allow you to debug SKILL PCells. In itself it is not a tool for building PCells, but helps with debug around SKILL PCells you might have written. On Cadence Online Support you can go to Learning->Online Courses and then search for "pcell" and you'll find the free SKILL Development of Parameterized Cells vIC6.1.8/ICADVM 20.1 course.

There is Cadence PCell Designer (the link takes you to the Datasheet). If you are interested, please contact your account team at Cadence. There's also an introduction presentation here: Introduction to PCell Designer - Licensing, Setup, General Flow, PCD environment, and commands. (and rapid adoption kits on the support site).

Finally, there's also the old graphical PCell editor in Virtuoso. This is quite basic and not very well suited for anything other than very simple cases (it has not had much support for a number of years), but maybe it's sufficient for your needs. See the documentation Creating Graphical Parameterized Cells.

    Regards,

    Andrew
