via array justification?

I'm using numerous via arrays in a layout and notice that the justification on the "create via" form doesn't stick. it always defaults back to center center. How can I set default to another justification?

Moreover, there's no difference between left, right or center in one orientation, or upper,  center or lower in the other (this is a string of 5 vias BTW, but all behave the same).

Perhaps this is a function of the PDK, I don't know, or perhaps it's a bug?

I just checked in IC6.1.8-64b.500.24 (ISR24 - the latest) and don't see this behaviour. For me, on the Create->Via form, it retains the justification for each via - so if you change the via from (say) M2_M1 to M3_M2 then that retains the last justification used for that via (so that means you would need to change the justification once for each via type if you want all via types to have the same justification). Having changed it, next time I place the same type of via, I get the same justification that I used last time.

From doing some searching of change requests I don't see any changes in this behaviour for a long time, but I didn't experiment with different versions.

The Create Via form is however complex and and has lots of modes of operations. Perhaps you should show some screenshots of exactly how you're using Create Via in case it's one of the modes that isn't working? Also, knowing the sub-version you're using would be rather helpful.

    Thanks Andrew.

Sorry for not replying earlier, but I don't seem to be getting email notifications of responses to my posts.

    I am using IC6.1.8-64b.500.21

Although I'm always able to include images in the original post, I appear unable to include images in responses, the upload just doesn't work.

I have noticed recently that the create via form seems to be behaving differently, this may well be related. The number of vias chosen also does not "stick" as I'm almost certain it used to, it simply goes back to 1 row, 1 column for every type.

Normally when that happens, I clear the caches and that seems to fix it.

I don't see that behaviour either, and I'm not aware of an option to make it behave that way (I couldn't find one anyway). I was trying in the same version as you.

The best thing would be to contact customer support. An application engineer will then be able to explore in more detail with you (probably via screen-sharing) what is happening in your environment.
