viaMap in streamout.

It's been many years since Ive had to do a streamout, and I notice there's a "new' option.   The streamout log file included warning about using an option called "viaMap".  The streamin looks perfect without it, but I suppose it would be nice not to have a million via cells included in the directory.  Other than aesthetics is there any reason that the foundry would care if I used viaMap or not?  Also, WHERE does one include this option?  I searched through the streamout form and could find no check box for this.

It's found from More Options, and then the General Settings. The help button at the bottom of the form explains what it's useful for.

Since it doesn't affect the resulting stream file, a foundry wouldn't even know whether you've used viaMap or not. The mapping data is used to allow mapping back of the various via cells in the stream back to the via objects in the first place upon stream in - which is probably only useful if you are doing a round trip
