How to change VIVA zoom time-axis (Shift+ mouse scroll)

Hello,

I am using Virtuoso IC6.1.8-64b.500.24, and Spectre 21.1.0.334.isr6. Whenever I plot any waveform on VIVA and try to zoom-in the time-axis using (shift+mouse scroll) it doesn't do anything. However, ctrl+mouse scroll zooms-in vertically.

It seems like its an issue from a 3rd party tool I am using to remotely access Linux server, whenever I login from Windows the zoom works fine, but when I login from Macbook (shift+mouse scroll) doesn't work.

Is there a way to change this shortcut?

Many thanks in advance,

Nader Fathy

    Hi Nader.

I don't think it's possible to change this as a bindkey setting, unfortunately.

I also use a Mac with a VDI to access a Linux server (mac-mini running macOS Mojave - 10.14.6) that runs Cadence tools.  I have used a number of VDI and, after much experimentation with other VDI, find the NoMachine VDI (https://www.nomachine.com) to provide the most robust connection and have used in for years on my Mac and now on Windows. There is also a version for iOS.

With ViVA, I am able to use the bindkey to control the X-zoom using the mouse to highlight the region I want to expand with the shift-Control key combination. I show the key combination in Figure 1 from the Keyboard viewer. Nader, you might use your keyboard viewer to compare with your keyboard's shift-Control key combination.

Also, I've included a short video illustrating the feature working with ViVA.

    Hope this helps Nader!

    Shawn

P.S. As a side note, I also use a Windows machine with a VDI.

    Thank you very much Shawn!

I tried your suggestion but still I am not able to control the X-Zoom in Viva (Please see the attached screenshot).

I am using Exceed TurboX, and I believe there is an issue with it when I use the (Shift-Mouse Wheel) combination. This is why I was looking to change the bindkey. Mouse-Right-Click zoom method still works though as illustrated in your video.

    Kindest Regards,

    Nader Fathy

Rats! However, I must thank you for letting me know it did not work with Exceed TurboX.

I have not tried using Exceed TurboX. I have used Exceed (when it was referred to as Hummingbird Exceed). However, it was a while ago when most designers used it simply to emulate an X-window environment on Windows.

The only other thought that comes to mind is to use a mouse that allows you to program its features (to allow you to re-program the combination that is not working to expand the ViVA x-axis). Just as an example, I use the Evoluent Vertical Mouse (https://evoluent.com/products/vm4r/) on my PC and their software allows you to re-program its various buttons as they show on their site at URL:

I thought I might at least pass the thought your way as it came to mind Nader. Thank you for letting me know anyway!

    Hi Nader,

You might need to contact OpenText for support. I also use a MacBook and whilst it works fine with my VMWare Fusion virtual machine, the shift-mousewheel does not work (as you say) with Exceed TurboX. I took a look at the advanced configuration settings in Exceed TurboX for the connection and can't see anything that would appear to prevent shift-mouse wheel from working (ctrl-mouse wheel is OK).

    Regards,

    Andrew
