How to create layout labels automatically

Hello

I am using Cadence Virtuoso IC.18-64b.500.6

I usually use the interactive connectivity to generate pins from Connectivity>Generate>Selected from the source and by selecting the pins in the schematic.

This method is useful to me when dealing with a large number of pins, however, this method brings me the pins without labels, hence the efforts I saved on creating the pins I lose it to create the labels required for the LVS check-in PVS

Is there an option in Cadence that solve this issue for me, for example, either a solution of generating labels automatically with the defined layer attached to the center of each pin,

or an additional setting to do so that Generate pins from Connectivity >Generate>Selected from the source bring the pin with the label.

or other better solution

Thank you in advance for your help

Best Regards

When you've selected the pins you want to generate, press the F3 key to bring up the options form, and then you can change the Placement Mode at the top to "Individually":

Having done that, you'll see the choices as to what layer to draw the pin on, whether to Create Labels and then on the Options form which layer to put the labels on appear.

These are similar options you get when using Generate All from Source or Update Components and Nets.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you very much for your answer and help.

I have tried your solution as you can see from the image below

However, the result of the label is not coming on the created pin as you kindly see from the image below,

    Thank you once again

This works for me. I assume the CETXT layer is visible? The only way I can get what you see is if I have the visibility turned off on whatever layer that was chosen for the labels.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you very much for your response,

I have turned off the visibility of CETEXT that I used for the label, and as you can see from the image below there is no label on the screen

If I do the label manually from Create>Label, the label looks fine as shown below

if again I turn the CETEXT visibility off for this one, the label will be fine there as you see from the image below

I have tried to repeat your suggestion but using different layer for labeling as allowed by my technology, but again I have the same reported issue

Thank you once again for your help

    Best Regards

I checked in the same sub-version you're using and it works fine for me - the only time it doesn't happen is if the pin is already placed in the layout (in which case no new pin is created anyway), or if I turn off the "Create Label" checkbox.

I suggest you contact customer support. We'll need to see what exactly you're doing to determine what's going wrong.

Thank you Andrew for your try and efforts,

I am shy to tell you that I don't know how to contact the customer support, because when I click the link of "customer support" it take me to the support home page and I can not find the contact link there

    Than you once again

You log into the support site and then use this:

Cases->Submit Case - then then fill in the form with the details.

    Regards,
