Maestro Expression Migration Problem

Kevin Buck
Kevin Buck over 3 years ago

Due to a project organization change some designs/testbenches were migrated to a new database/library name. I had four similar designs with similar testbenches that were migrated and then updated with the Rename Reference Library option  which unfortunately doesn't work for the linked design reference in ADE Assembler or for the library name in a config view. After updating these two fields 3/4 testbenches restored as expected, the other testbench restored everything except for the expressions (of which there are many). The maestro.sdb file still contains this information but for some reason the library references don't get updated for this one testbench. I've tried updating them with a search and replace (every expression and the expressions only in tooloptions as there is another section called origoptions that doesn't seem to need to get updated).

One interesting thing to note is that the functioning testbenches are all copies of the testbench that doesn't cooperate. Under the origoptions of the testbenches that were successfully migrated is the reference to the original library name and testbench name. Any insight would be appreciated. I'm using version 6.1.8-64b.500.9.

As a workaround I copied a backup of the file in the original project and migrated it to the new project under a slightly modified name. I updated the library references locally in the new project and then deleted the originally migrated testbench before moving the copied testbench to the desired name. A bit cumbersome but it worked. I'm still a bit curious why the expressions disappeared from the original migration though.

    Kevin,

In general rename and copy operations in the library manager should fix the references (to test benches and in config views) if you use the "Update instances" checkbox and both the object being copied and the original reference is being copied at the same time. I think I'd expect rename reference library to work too (I've not checked that and don't have time this week to do the experiments myself, unfortunately). Does Edit->Change Library References work any better in the Library Manager?

The expressions normally disappear if they are associated with a test bench that's no longer referenced, and you need to make sure you don't save the maestro view without having fixed the reference.

To be honest, the best thing to do is raise this with customer support so that we can have a look.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your reply, for some reason I didn't get the email notification that there had been a response. I actually deleted the cell after I got the workaround going but if I have time (a big if!) I will try to replicate it and see if this works.
