LayoutXL creating auto connectivity of custom cell

Hi,

I have question about auto generation the connectivity of my custom cell layout. When we update the instance from source, if it is from foundry device level, the tool will help to generate the instance and also highlighted the connectivity. But, after I build my own cell, it would import the instance only without highlighting the connectivity between cells. May I know the flow to build similar function as foundry device?

I use IC 6.1.7 version.

    Have you added pins on your layout (and those pins need to match the pin names on the corresponding symbol)? That's what would be needed...

    Thanks, my fault.

    One following question, is it able to recreate the cell pins from the same location as I instance the cell in other layout.

    Sorry for confusion. For example, I create a new layout in top level and I instance the sub-cell. I want to emerge the same pin at same location as where the sub-cell is located.

    You can use Place->Pin Placement, and choose to place the top-level pins. You'd select them all and then set the attributes of all to be "Level-1 pin".
