Config simulation-Netlist generation failed

Yongqi Hu
Yongqi Hu over 3 years ago

When I run config simulation, it shows that netlist generation failed as shown in the bottom figure, so I change the simulator to AMS, the netlist can be generated successfully, I want to know if the ADE's simulator is set to spectre, config cannot support netlist generation where cells are text, or there are other ways to solve this problem? Hope someone can help me, appreciate that!

    Hi,

Spectre supports only Verilog-A text views. If your config view contains any other kind of text views (Verilog, System Verilog, VHDL), then you will have to use 'ams' since the simulation will involve both digital and analog kernels. The simulator in this case will be 'xrun' which comes as a part of Xcelium installation.

Thanks for your reply, I check my config view which is shown in the bottom figure, it does not contain Verilog, System Verilog, VHDL. And the simulators I can use are Spectre, hspiceD, UltraSim, ams, there is no 'xrun', but I have installed Xcelium. So I have two quesitons:

First: Should I change the config view list?

Second: How do I set the simulator to Xrun?

     Regards.

May be it is the problem of Virtuoso version? I am not sure, the sub versions are as follows:

    Spectre sub-version:20.1.0.068

    XCELIUM sub-version: 21.09-s007

    IC sub-version: IC6.1.8-64b.500.18

    Hi Yongqi,

When you set the simulator to be 'ams', then xrun is the simulator used. You don't have to do anything else to choose it.

Your view list does not indicate an AMS simulation, so I think it's better you log this with customer support to figure out the issue.

The error message in the original post suggests that the netlisting data has got corrupted. We have a CCR on this issue, caused by switching between using a config and not using a config (or vice versa), and it's planned to be fixed in an upcoming ISR (the failure may well happen in other cases, but this seems a possible reason).

    The workaround would be to:

    1. Close ADE Explorer/Assembler - quitting virtuoso might be wise too
    2. Delete the /home/huyq/simulation/<libName>/<cellName>/<maestroViewName>/results/maestro/.tmpADEDir_huyq (the last bit will be your user name) directory
    3. Restart virtuoso and open ADE and try simulating again

If this doesn't work, please contact customer support as Saloni suggested.

    Yongqi,

In general, I prefer users not to delete posts as it's very annoying to work on something and then go to append and find it's been deleted. Of course, if something has been posted that shouldn't have been, then you can delete using the "More" button at the bottom of the post.

If it's just been resolved though, it's better to just post that it's been resolved rather than deleting it.

By posting that it’s solved, I didn’t mean editing the original post to remove all the content and in that saying it’s solved. If you’re going to do that you might as well have deleted it.
