Drawing an Elongated Ellipse Shape

Hi,

If this question or kind of question has been answered before, I apologize. I'm trying to create the shape shown below in SKILL. It's essentially an elongated ellipse, but with the length and width of the shape defined. What's the best way to go about drawing this type of shape in SKILL? Is there a way to modify the dbCreateEllipse() function to include a length and width (essentially "fatten" it up)?

Regards,

Nishant.

There's no single function that can do this - it's certainly not an ellipse as that is truly elliptical. PCell Designer has a corners command that can do this (in the soon to be released 2.5.20 version of PCD25 the corners command is extended so in addition to the number of sides for each corner you can omit the number of sides and it will put as many points on the curved corners to make it as smooth as possible with all points on the manufacturing grid).

If it's not for a PCell, you could use the leModifyCorner function to modify the corners of a rectangle (you can't use this function in a PCell).

Otherwise you'd have to write something to generate the points in a polygon.

Is this for a PCell? if so perhaps you should contact your account team about PCell Designer - it has good support for these kinds of rounded shapes.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, this is indeed a shape I hope to draw for a pCell. I've seen some pCells floating around within the company that incorporate shapes like the one I've posted. I'll ask around and let you know what I find. If I'm still stuck with the SKILL code, I'll post a snippet and ask for comments/suggestions.

    Regards,

    Nishant.
