Some infuriating schematic capture "features"

Some infuriating"features" of schematic capture.

1) When in a lower block in the hierarchy, and you want to select output(s) with the tedious "ADE_explorer>setup>select on design>outputs to be plotted" the capture tool sends you straight back to the top level of hierarchy.
This only happens the first time one invokes said "ADE_explorer>setup>select on design>outputs to be plotted", but it's frustrating nonetheless.

1a) At this point, the first reaction (at least for me) is to double click the top level block to descend edit back to whence I came. But of course this simply selects every I/O on the block as a viva output!

1b) Next - in the "old days", one could simply click the block again, and it would deselect all those outputs that you didn't actually want to look at, but this doesn't work any more.

2) Very often, I will either deselect an output to be viewed in the "output setup" window, or even delete it altogether, only to find on the next sim that they have magically been re selected or re-emerged from deletion!  I haven't managed yet to determine what procedure makes this happen but it's really frequent.

If I am doing something wrong, please let me know.

I agree, these are annoying and you should report them to customer support (possibly not point 2 because that might be a usage issue). Anyway, to summarise:

    1. Yes, I see this. It used to be much worse and now it returns to the top less frequently, but I agree it should not do this.

1a. This needs fixing. As a workaround I suggest you use the "e" bindkey instead to descend.

1b. You can still click on the block and it then turns off the "Plot" checkboxes for all the terminal currents, but it leaves them in the outputs table rather then removing them. They stay highlighted on the schematic (an "O" around each terminal) though, which is confusing.

    2. I don't see this. Perhaps (wild theory) you have gone over a history and done RMB->Load Setup to Active (this would be Assembler though) rather than RMB->View Results (I'd say you rarely want to use Load Setup to Active unless you truly want to restore all the simulation setup). However, if you're in Explorer then this isn't going to be it. I've not seen this behaviour though - maybe a discussion with an application engineer through customer support might help uncover what you're doing that triggers this (it could well be a bug of course).

    Regards,

    Andrew

To work around the behavior described in 1), I have developed the habit to open subcircuit schematics in a new tab. In order to go back to the subcircuit in this case, you just need to select the corresponding tab.
