Kind of tkdiff on schematics?

Hi,

can we compare two schematics in Virtuoso, e.g. to see which transistors are missing in one, or which parameters have changed?

This is not something Cadence provides, but I do know many of the design management offerings from our DM connection partners offer this kind of capability.

    Hi Stephan,

not Virtuoso itself, but you probably can trick whatever verification tool you use to do a svs  instead of a lvs. I know that could be done with Assura in batch mode. There are some old solutions on the support portal available.

There is also a solution to compare schematics, which marks differences in the views and creates a text file with a comparison result:

Although it is not as sophisticated as other diff tools from design management sector I've seen, but it is small, fast, and does only cost you loading the skill script...

    Best regards,

Many thanks, now I see my company picked that up already, and created a menu item for this in the schematic entry, great! I think this feature should be available out of the box.

    Dear StephanWeber,

I have also used this code and found it useful. As Andrew mentioned, there are other companies that provide more comprehensive comparison tools. I just happened to receive a notice from EDA Direct for an upcoming webinar that will describe its offerings. They offer a Virtuoso schematic and layout comparison tool. A link to register for the seminar is at:

(As a side note, I do not work for EDA Direct)
