EMX Reference Pin

Is it possible while creating extracted view of the layout using EMX, the reference nport point to a gnd! net?

Default, the nport m1,m2,... is connected to a pin named GND, or the actual ground in layout (if you fill the tab in ground port), though this is a hurdle when an interconnect with no close ground is simulated.

    Which version of EMX are you using, and which interface? Is this the EMX menu in the layout (the "SKILL" interface) or the EM assistant in VLS EXL? The description doesn't quite sound like what the UI looks like, so I'm slightly confused.

    If it's the EMX menu (the "SKILL" interface), then this is controlled by the "Global Ref" checkbox on the form:

     .

    That will create a global connection for the nport reference

    That's not the form from EMX 6.2. My guess is that your emxconfig.il is loading an old version of the emxform code (in 6.0 the form looked like this) and not the latest from the 6.2 installation. I tend to have this in my emxconfig.il file:

    EMX_interface_path=(strcat (getShellEnvVar "EMXHOME") "/share/emx/virtuoso_ui/emxinterface")

    You could fix that properly, or you may be able to achieve the same behaviour by just setting the variable:

    EMX_global_ref_ground=t

    in the emxconfig.il (or even just typing it in the CIW before creating the "Spar" view). That certainly works for me when using the 6.0 interface.

    Thanks Andrew, it worked. Unfortunately, I cannot modify emxconfig.il (not the cad manager), but I can see that it is as follows

    EMX_interface_path=(pwd)

    There is another issue in which I know that latest form has the capability to observe current/mesh after simulation, but I don't see them either in the form I have (I see 6.2 when the emx runs as follows)
