Regarding MOSFET size problem ("Edit Instance Properties") in new PDK installation

Hi,

I tried installing the new PDK for TSMC 65 nm (version:T-N65-CM-SP-018-K3 (Cadence OA) 1.0c) in Cadence (IC617 & spectre 17.1.0.238.isr4).

After the installation, an error occurred while instantiating the components (like nmos_rf, nch, mimcap).

Eg: The screenshot attached below is instantiating for nmos_rf, the problem is when I try to change the size of one finger, the total width remains stuck at 32 µm. Which was not the case with the previous PDK.

The same can be observed with the mimcap. No change in capacitance values.

One more things observed is an error while instantiating:

    Arpit,

It appears that you have an incomplete installation of the PDK. Did you copy the tsmcN65 library elsewhere? It would normally try to load SKILL code from the "skill" directory alongside the tsmcN65 library, so if you've moved that library outside of the installation then it won't work - it appears from the errors that the SKILL code has not been loaded, and hence the callbacks are failing.

The best solution is to contact the provider of the PDK (TSMC or the distributor you're using), since it's their PDK.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Is there anything which I can do without contacting the supplier or reinstalling the PDK?

If any, please let me know.

    Arpit,

Without knowing what you've done wrong (other than not including all the files in the right place), it's rather hard to make a suggestion. You could create a case with Cadence customer support and we could take a look and give some advice.

The first things I'd suggest are:

    1. The path to the tsmcN65 library that is included in the cds.lib - is there a "skill" directory parallel to it?
    2. Are the permissions correct to that directory?
    3. Are there any errors shown when you first open a design containing devices from tsmcN65 - i.e. at the point the libInit.il is loaded. This might also give a clue as to what is wrong.

    Hi Andrew,

As you mentioned the skill directory, I found a folder named "skill" in the installed pdk directory.

Making all the files of that folder executable solved the problem, now I'm able to run everything perfectly.

    Hi Gabru,

I run into the exact same question as yours. Could you please explain what does "Making all files in skill folder executable" means? Thank you.
