select from overlaps?

I have an M4 path on top of an M3 polygon. I have M4 selected in the palette, yet every time I try to add a path to the end of the M4 path, the palette switches to M3.  I have checked that "select from overlaps" is checked in the layout editor options  yet I do not get a popup asking me which layer to add the path to as suggested int he documentation.

Am I missing something? Smart snapping is enabled.

You can use ctrl-space to cycle through the shapes/start point for the wire.

Thanks RobMan, I'll give that a try. Still curious why the above - out of the manual - didn't work though.

The palette selection will be prioritised, which should be M4 in your case. If a non-associated layer (not M3/M4) is selected the 'Select from Overlaps' will come into play.
